Optics & Quantum Communications Workshop

The Optics & Quantum Communications Workshop is an exciting and hands-on workshop that is intended to give students exposure to optics and quantum concepts over the course of three days. Run in collaboration with the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), this workshop will teach students about quantum phenomena and wave optics, and how these apply to practical issues such as secure communications and microscopy.

This event is open to students from any faculty and any year of study. It is intended to be an accessible and hands-on activity designed for students without prior experience in these fields.

The Quantum Communications Workshop is designed to be educational and engaging, fostering a collaborative learning environment where participants can develop valuable skills and explore their interest in the important and emerging field of quantum computing and telecommunications.

Workshop Entangle This VI: 100 Years of Quantum

Dear Quantum Community,

We are happy to announce the workshop “Entangle This VI: 100 Years of Quantum” to take place in Madrid from the 15th to the 19th of September 2025. The event is organized by the quantum groups at IFT and IFF (CSIC), and takes place in the context of the 2025 International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ).

The workshop will take place at the Royal Botanical Garden in downtown Madrid and aims to bring together experts at the forefront of the various subfields of quantum science and technology. It will also include a social program and an outreach event at the Thyssen Museum.

Registrations and abstract submissions (both for contributed talks and posters) are currently open until May, although early submissions are encouraged. See the event’s website for more information.

About Quantum Methods for Hydrogen Storage

In the context of celebrating the International Year of Quantum Physics, a lecture and discussion panel will be held at the Faculty of Science, Misrata University. The event will highlight scientific achievements related to quantum physics and how it can contribute to developing innovative solutions to energy challenges. Attendees will be invited to participate in discussions about the future of this research and its role in enhancing innovation in the energy sector.

The upcoming lecture will focus on “Quantum Methods for Hydrogen Storage” and the role of quantum physics in this context. It will showcase how hydrogen storage techniques can benefit from quantum principles, thereby improving efficiency and safety.

Professor Abdulwahab Al-Salabi will discuss how the quantum properties of particles, such as superposition and entanglement, can be used to develop new materials capable of storing hydrogen more effectively. The lecture will also cover potential applications of these technologies in the field of sustainable energy, particularly concerning clean energy production.
