Gui-Lu Long

A global pioneer in quantum information science, Prof. Gui-Lu Long has spent over three decades advancing the theory, application, and dissemination of quantum technologies.

He is internationally recognized for proposing Quantum Secure Direct Communication (QSDC) in 2000, a foundational approach that enables direct transmission of information over quantum channels and is now a major branch of quantum communication theory cited in the likes of the EU Quantum Flagship Roadmap and implemented in secure banking trials and 5G networks.

With more than 500 refereed publications reaching over 30,000 citations, Long has been recognized with honors including two National Natural Science Awards, the Rao Yutai Physics Prize, and the Thomson Reuters Research Fronts Award. His leadership roles span global scientific communities, including serving as President of the Asian Pacific Physical Societies and membership on international quantum working groups.

Long has shaped knowledge dissemination while mentoring the next generation of quantum researchers. His work demonstrates the integration of theoretical innovation, industrial impact, and global leadership in quantum science.
