Keeper Layne Sharkey

Dr. Keeper Layne Sharkey brings together expertise in quantum chemistry, cybersecurity, and public engagement to ensure that quantum technologies evolve with both innovation and responsibility.

With a PhD in quantum chemistry, she leads ODE, L3C, a social enterprise developing quantum algorithms to improve molecular simulation and support applications in areas such as materials science and security.

As Chair of the IEEE P1947 Standards for Quantum Cybersecurity Framework and InfraGard’s Quantum Technologies & Cybersecurity Cross-Sector Council, Dr. Sharkey helps shape international approaches to quantum-safe infrastructure and cross-sector collaboration. A co-founding member of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C), she contributes to building connections between research, policy, and industry.

Her book, Quantum Chemistry and Computing for the Curious, introduces quantum principles to wider audiences, reflecting her dedication to accessible science education. Through mentorship and outreach, Dr. Sharkey supports greater inclusion in quantum, encouraging participation from underrepresented communities and helping to prepare the next generation of quantum professionals.
