Mira Wolf-Bauwens

Dr. Mira L. Wolf-Bauwens integrates ethical leadership with technical expertise to advance the responsible development of quantum technologies. During her time at IBM Quantum as Responsible Quantum Computing Lead and Technical Ambassador, she founded and led the responsible quantum computing research group. She thereby contributed to high-impact research while emphasizing governance, equity, and societal benefit of quantum computing.

Wolf-Bauwens plays a central role in shaping international frameworks for responsible quantum innovation. She is a principal author of the World Economic Forum’s Quantum Computing Governance Principles and the Quantum Economy Blueprint, helping guide policy in various countries in Europe and beyond. Wolf-Bauwens was a founding member of the Advisory Committee of the Open Quantum Institute and is now serving the OQI as Senior Strategic Advisor for Governance and Responsible Computing. She also serves on the UK’s Responsible Quantum Industry Forum’s steering committee, bringing together scientists, industry leaders, and policymakers to establish shared standards for quantum development. In her current role, Wolf-Bauwens leads the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Center’s Quantum Governance efforts.

Committed to responsible innovation and accessible science, Wolf-Bauwens lectures widely, from Oxford and ETH Zurich to forums such as UNESCO, ITU’s AI for Good, IEEE Quantum Week, and the APS March Meeting. She is an established expert in quantum governance and works directly with policymakers and diplomats, sharing her technical insights and expertise in technology ethics and governance. Her efforts bridge research, policy, and education, demonstrating how scientific and technological advances can be paired with ethical guidance and global collaboration to advance the quantum ecosystem responsibly.
