Quantum 100

Samuraí Brito
Head of Quantum and Data Science Executive Manager, Institute of Science and Technology of Itau Unibanco, Natal, Brazil
Dr. Samuraí Brito is a leading voice at the intersection of quantum science, innovation, and strategic technology in Latin America. With a PhD in Physics and a postdoctoral fellowship in Quantum Information, she combines deep scientific expertise—reflected in publications in journals such as Physical Review Letters—with a forward-looking vision for how quantum technologies will shape the region’s future.
Over more than a decade, Brito has explored how core concepts like entanglement, quantum networks, and complexity can inform challenges in computing, AI, finance, and security. At Itaú Unibanco, she helped design the bank’s quantum strategy and led initiatives at the Institute of Science and Technology of Itaú, contributing to one of the earliest and most structured quantum programs within a major Latin American enterprise. These experiences reinforced her belief that hybrid quantum–classical ecosystems will define the next wave of technological transformation, requiring organizations to prepare talent and infrastructure today.
Recognized for translating scientific advances into practical insight, Brito works as a connector between research, industry, policy, and society. Featured in major Brazilian media, she is also a frequent speaker at national and international events, including SXSW. As an ambassador for the AI & Data Leaders network and co-author of Mulheres na Inteligência Artificial, she advocates for greater representation in STEM and a more inclusive and sustainable innovation ecosystem.
