Professor Ángela Stella Camacho Beltrán is a quantum physicist and human rights advocate whose distinguished career combines fundamental research with support for women in STEM fields.
Her work focused on the electronic and optical properties of low-dimensional materials, leading to the description of quantum dots and nanoplasmonics. Camacho has published extensively and founded the Condensed Matter Physics Research Group at the University of Los Andes, establishing a legacy in Colombian quantum physics research.
In addition to her academic achievements, Camacho has been a tireless advocate for gender equity in science. She founded the Colombian Network of Women Scientists, coordinated STEM mentoring programs, and advised on national gender policies in science and technology.
