Professor Alexandra Boltasseva is a leading researcher whose work is transforming the fields of nanophotonics, quantum photonics, and optical materials. Her research, dedication to mentorship, and leadership in quantum photonics make her a standout contributor to the global quantum community.
Recognized multiple times on Highly Cited Researchers lists, she combines light, materials, and advanced computing techniques. Her work is helping to develop quantum circuits that compute more efficiently, reliably, and scalably. She has led innovations in metamaterials and plasmonics – materials engineered to control light in ways that natural materials cannot.
Boltasseva is a committed mentor and advocate for the next generation of quantum scientists. As Workforce Development Lead for the Quantum Science Center at Purdue University, she directs its annual Summer School, which trains hundreds of students. A Fellow of APS, MRS, NAI, IEEE, SPIE, and Optica, she is celebrated not only for her scientific achievements but also for her collaborative spirit, consistently pushing the boundaries of discovery through collaboration and teamwork.
