Sana Amairi-Pyka
Lead Scientist, Quantum Communications, Technology Innovation Institute, Abu Dhabi
In a career spanning quantum optics, space technologies, and secure communications, Dr. Sana Amairi-Pyka has had a significant impact on the quantum industry in Abu Dhabi and beyond.
As Lead Scientist at the Technology Innovation Institute in Abu Dhabi, she launched the region’s first quantum optical ground station, enabling satellite-based quantum communications and advancing the country’s global quantum-secure networks.
Amairi-Pyka also serves as a European Commission expert evaluator for quantum and photonics proposals and has facilitated landmark diplomacy, including a Memorandum of Understanding between Abu Dhabi’s space agency and the European Space Agency. She actively mentors early-career researchers in the Middle East and North Africa and advocates for diversity through the Space Generation Advisory Council.
Passionate about bridging science and policy, Amairi-Pyka holds a certificate in Executive Leadership Development from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, supporting her efforts to integrate quantum technologies into strategic and industrial ecosystems. Her work demonstrates how technical expertise combined with diplomatic engagement can shape global quantum infrastructure.
This year, she was selected by Junior Chamber International (JCI) as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP), recognizing her leadership and contributions to science and technology.
