Leonardo Rafael Medrano Sandonas

Research Associate, Dresden University of Technology, Dresden, Germany

Just starting in his career as a researcher, Dr. Leonardo Medrano Sandonas is already distinguishing himself as an outstanding contributor to advancing our understanding of quantum phenomena. His work integrates quantum physics, chemistry, and machine learning to address both academic and industry challenges, advancing the emerging field of quantum-informed materials discovery.

Medrano is also deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists. He has co-supervised eight master’s and doctoral students at the TUD Dresden University of Technology and the University of Luxembourg, and currently mentors undergraduates in the Research Experience for Peruvian Undergraduates (REPU) program. His guidance is invaluable for helping students develop research skills and prepare for graduate studies in Europe.

Beyond research and mentorship, Medrano is a dedicated community builder. He has co-organized scientific events in Peru and Germany that explore applications of quantum in chemistry, nanotechnology, and biology. Through his combination of computational innovation, mentorship, and outreach, Dr. Medrano is making significant contributions to quantum research and the community.
