Quantum 100

Dorcas Attuabea Addo
Lecturer, University of Education, Winneba, Ghana
Promoting quantum education, literacy, and diversity in Ghana and beyond, Dorcas Attuabea Addo is a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics Education at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana, where her research interests include quantum algorithms for materials science.
As President of the OneQuantum Ghana chapter, Dorcas has built Ghana’s quantum education movement from the ground up—organizing workshops, university events, and national participation in programs such as the Qiskit Fall Fest. Undeterred by resource limitations, she mobilizes local communities and partnerships to make quantum learning accessible across Ghana and beyond. In 2024, she secured a Unitary Foundation grant to expand outreach to high school students. She was part of the team that led the E-Learning African International School on Quantum Science and Technology, a landmark program opening quantum education to learners across Africa.
Dorcas also serves on the coordination team of the Africa Quantum Consortium (AQC), contributing to the continental strategy and capacity-building. She was part of the team that represented Ghana at the 2025 Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) Conference, showcasing Ghana’s national achievements in computational and quantum science. Through resilience, leadership, and vision, Dorcas Attuabea Addo exemplifies how grassroots innovation can shape the future of quantum science in the Global South.
