Daisy Shearer

Quantum Computing Outreach and Education Lead, National Quantum Computing Centre, United Kingdom

Daisy Shearer leads quantum computing outreach and education at the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC), focusing on making STEM and quantum technologies accessible to diverse audiences, including disabled and neurodivergent individuals.

Since 2022, Shearer has developed the NQCC’s public engagement program, including an outreach strategy aligned with government objectives. They have designed, delivered, and evaluated activities such as public talks, hackathons, workshops, and the NQCC pop-up exhibit, reaching over 10,000 people.

In addition to outreach, Shearer champions neuroinclusion in STEM, delivering workshops for academics and industry professionals and integrating inclusive practices into NQCC programming. They also oversee early-career engagement, including apprenticeships, summer students, and the UK Quantum Hackathon, giving over 150 early-career researchers hands-on problem-solving experience with quantum hardware. Through strategic program design and delivery and impressive community outreach, Shearer is helping to shape quantum education and workforce development in the UK.
