World Quantum Day in Padova 2025
World Quantum Day – April 14
On April 14, we celebrate World Quantum Day, an opportunity to bring quantum physics and its applications closer to the general public. This year, in conjunction with the Year of Quantum Technologies, the Quantum Group of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Padova is organizing a special event dedicated to high school students from Padova and its province. The goal is to introduce them to the world of quantum computing through an interactive and engaging experience.
Morning – Introductory Lecture & Quantum Treasure Hunt
The morning session will be dedicated to 25-40 selected students, chosen with the support of local schools. The event will begin with an introductory lecture on quantum technology physics, explaining the fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics and their role in the development of quantum computers. Following the lecture, students will be divided into groups for a Quantum Treasure Hunt, where they will take on interactive challenges to better understand how a quantum computer works. The questions will cover topics such as:
- What components make up a quantum computer?
- How is a quantum operation performed?
- What role does measurement play in a quantum computer?
Afternoon – Games, Experiments & Interactive Activities
In the afternoon, students will participate in a variety of board games, experiments, and interactive activities to further explore the workings of quantum computers and discover how they can be used to solve complex problems. This event aims to stimulate curiosity and interest in quantum computing, providing a dynamic and engaging learning experience for young students.
