Workshop on Quantum Optimization and Computing Under UNESCO’s International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ 2025)

In celebration of UNESCO’s International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ 2025), the Department of Computer Applications, Assam Don Bosco University, Azara Campus, Guwahati, successfully organized a workshop on quantum optimization, followed by a hands-on session on quantum computing, on October 15, 2025. The event was held at the School of Technology, Azara Campus, in alignment with the global initiative to promote awareness and understanding of quantum science and its transformative potential.
The workshop aimed to demystify the principles of quantum mechanics and explore their applications in artificial intelligence, optimization, computing, and secure communication. Participants gained exposure to the latest developments in quantum algorithms and optimization techniques that are shaping next-generation computational paradigms.
The resource person, Dr. Nilotpal Chakraborty, Assistant Professor at IIIT Guwahati, led the sessions with in-depth discussions and practical demonstrations. Through a blend of theory and practice, Dr. Chakraborty provided valuable insights into the functioning of quantum systems, algorithmic logic, and implementation tools for quantum computing.
The workshop was convened by Dr. Moushumi Barman from the Department of Computer Applications. The event featured visual presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on exercises, engaging students and faculty in meaningful academic interaction. The program concluded with a vibrant Q&A session that encouraged participants to reflect on the future prospects of quantum technologies in research and innovation.
