In the year celebrating 75 years of continuous activity in the field of applied research, the National Institute for Research and Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry – ICECHIM Bucharest invites you to the 7th edition of the Exploratory Workshop NeXT-Chem: Innovative cross-sectoral technologies, taking place on May 22-23 2025, at the INCDCP-ICECHIM headquarters, 202 Spl. Independenței, Sector 6, Bucharest. Our event aims to bring together young researchers in order to encourage them to share their progress in chemistry and chemical engineering.

NeXT-Chem VII embraces the transformative potential of quantum science and technology as a frontier in cross-sectoral innovation. This edition of the workshop explores how quantum approaches intersect with advanced chemistry, nanomaterials, and molecular engineering—fields at the core of the event’s scientific agenda. By featuring discussions on quantum-enabled sensing, simulation, and materials design, the workshop celebrates the growing role of quantum technologies in shaping sustainable solutions and next-generation processes. Through this interdisciplinary dialogue, NeXT-Chem VII positions itself as a platform that fosters awareness, collaboration, and innovation at the interface between chemistry and the quantum revolution.

The workshop represents a great opportunity for Master and PhD students to address the targets of the National Research, Development and Innovation Plan 2022-2027 and the Romanian National Strategy for Research, Innovation and Smart Specialization 2022-2027 (which also constitute the main focus areas of ICECHIM).

The topics addressed within the exploratory workshop are related to the international interests in the field, such as: nanosciences and nanomaterials, polymeric materials and nanomaterials, environmental and cultural heritage protection, sustainable management of resources, valuation of bioresources, increasing the competitiveness of industrial products, revitalization of the national chemical industry, recovery, recycling and valuation of agro-industrial by-products.

The event will be held in English, in a hybrid format (online and at the ICECHIM headquarters), and no registration fees will be charged.
