Science Communication Conference on Public Understanding of Quantum Science & Technology
On 20th December 2025, the Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, will organize a two-day Science Communication Conference on “Public Understanding of Quantum Science & Technology” at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad. GUJCOST is a proud Academic Institutional Partner to the United Nations (UN) for the International Year of Quantum Science & Technology 2025 (IYQST-2025) by UNESCO. As part of the IYQ2025 celebrations, GUJCOST has conducted year-round programs and outreach activities on quantum science.
The conference aims to create awareness and deepen public understanding of quantum science, highlighting its pivotal role in advancing fundamental knowledge of the physical world and its emerging applications in sustainable energy, education, communication, and future technologies.
The prestigious conference will be formally inaugurated by Mrs. P. Bharathi, IAS, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, in the presence of the Director, Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). The inaugural ceremony will mark the commencement of two days of in-depth deliberations, expert interactions, and knowledge-sharing sessions focused on the rapidly evolving quantum domain.
The conference will feature nearly 200 scientists, researchers, educators, and students from across the country, along with international delegates, providing a unique national and global platform to explore the fascinating and transformative world of quantum science and technology.
A highlight of the conference will be an exclusive interactive session by the Hon’ble Minister of Science and Technology, Forest and Environment, and Climate Change, Government of Gujarat, Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia, on the theme “Quantum Age: Our Collective Future,” scheduled for 10:00 am on 23rd December 2025. The session will focus on India’s preparedness for the quantum era and the collective responsibility of policymakers, scientists, educators, and society in harnessing quantum technologies for inclusive and sustainable development.
During the conference, there will be several keynote addresses and plenary talks on the public understanding of quantum science and technology. The participants will present their posters during the conference on the theme: Communicating Complex Quantum Concepts, Tools, Methods & Innovations in Quantum Science Communication.
Through this conference, GUJCOST reaffirms its commitment to science communication, public engagement, and capacity building, aligned with national priorities and the vision of making advanced scientific knowledge accessible to all segments of society. The Conference is expected to inspire young minds, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and strengthen India’s roadmap in quantum science and technology.
