Qiskit Fall Fests are student-led events held at universities around the world to strengthen local quantum computing communities, foster collaboration among students, researchers, and industry, and promote the exchange of knowledge on the latest developments in quantum computing and technology. Each year, IBM selects a limited number of student teams globally to host these events and in 2025, our team at the University of Calgary is part of this exciting international lineup.
Our Qiskit Fall Fest will take place from October 27 to November 2, 2025, on the University of Calgary main campus, featuring:
- IBM lecture on “Quantum and Qiskit 101”: Introduction to quantum computing concepts and hands-on basics using IBM’s Qiskit framework.
- Basic Quantum Algorithms with Qiskit workshop: Practical session exploring foundational quantum algorithms on quantum simulators using Qiskit.
- Lab Tours: Guided visits to UCalgary’s quantum research and hardware facilities.
- Quantum Trivia: A fun, interactive quiz testing your knowledge of quantum physics and quantum computing.
- Community Meetup: Networking session connecting quantum enthusiasts, students, and professionals.
- 24-hr Hackathon: Collaborative coding event where participants design and implement creative quantum solutions.
