Event Program

11:00 – 12:00: Popular lecture on fascinating quantum physics concepts by Prof. Paweł Kurzyński, specially designed for young audiences and anyone curious about the quantum world.

12:00 – 14:00: Interactive exhibition featuring pioneering scientific articles from nearly a century ago, alongside hands-on demonstrations of quantum phenomena, including:

  • Superconductor levitation in magnetic fields
  • Virtual reality experiences where you can:
  • Build your own quantum computer and explore quantum entanglement
  • Conduct simulated quantum optics experiments
  • Exhibition of quantum-related projects prepared by student scientific clubs and students from the Faculty

14:00 – 15:00: Lecture on the fascinating development of quantum technology and theory by Prof. Adam Miranowicz and Prof. Antoni Wójcik, aimed at adult audiences interested in deeper insights.

BSides Cbr—When Will a Quantum Computer Be Able to Crack Modern Encryption, and What Should We Do About It?

BSides Canberra is a hacker conference for those focused on the joy of discovery, inner workings, and novel approaches to learning. In this International Year of Quantum, BSides Canberra will feature a talk by Dr. Rajiv Shah examining when a quantum computer will be able to crack modern encryption and what we should do about it.

One of Australia’s leading conferences for cybersecurity experts. Ever since Peter Shor published his famous algorithm in 1994, there has been excitement about how a hypothetical quantum computer could break the commonly used encryption methods that we routinely rely upon today. In the last few years, there has been a crescendo of announcements about developments in quantum computing, and also many commentators warning darkly of an imminent apocalypse. However, the world still seems to keep going.

This talk will look at how quantum computers work and why this matters for breaking encryption. This will include what is needed to scale up current quantum hardware, as well as potential solutions, both quantum and classical. Along the way, we will expose some common myths, examine the truth behind some of the headlines you may have seen, and leave the audience with pragmatic, actionable advice to incorporate into their work.

2025 Chicago Quantum Summit

The eighth-annual Chicago Quantum Summit will convene top industry, government, and academic leaders from around the world for dialogue aimed at shaping the future of quantum technology. Held in downtown Chicago, at the center of the globally recognized Illinois-Wisconsin-Indiana quantum hub, the two-day event will highlight breakthrough research, commercialization and workforce development efforts, and field-defining discussions at the intersection of quantum technology and society.

Summit participants can hear from the winners of the 2025 Boeing Quantum Creators Prize Symposium, compete in a poster competition, attend a complement of Midwest Quantum Week events, and more.

Qiskit Fall Fest 2025: UM-UPM Entangling Workshop on Quantum and NISQ Algorithms

Qiskit Fall Fest is a collection of quantum computing events that allow students, researchers, and industry professionals to participate in various quantum-themed activities. This year, IBM Quantum has selected 150 universities from over 600 applications worldwide to be part of the Qiskit Fall Fest Program.

Following the global celebration of 100 years of quantum, proclaimed by the United Nations (UNs) as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology 2025 (IYQ 2025), Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) will co-organize a two-part workshop on quantum algorithms and Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) algorithms as an extension event of Qiskit Fall Fest 2025. The purpose of this workshop is to foster collaboration between universities and to equip participants with the fundamentals of quantum computing, quantum algorithms, and NISQ algorithms.

Horizontes Cuánticos: Aplicaciones y Desafíos en Colombia

As part of the United Nations’ International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, the Young Academy of Colombia and the Physics Program at Universidad Distrital FJC are joining forces to host a unique day of reflection, outreach, and interdisciplinary dialogue. Supported by the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences and the LatitUD Astronomical Observatory, this event will explore quantum mechanics not only as a pillar of physical sciences but as a gateway connecting critical thinking, philosophy, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and science policy. Featuring talks by national and international researchers and a closing panel on education, research, and governance, this is a unique opportunity to envision the future through the lens of quantum science.

100 Anos de Mecânica Quântica

Quantum mechanics is the physical theory that accurately describes the behavior of matter at the atomic or subatomic scale. Its applications have contributed decisively to the development of modern technologies, especially electronics.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Werner Heisenberg’s pioneering work on quantum mechanics, and as a result, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. Several universities and research centers around the world have held celebratory events.

The goal of this event is to bring quantum mechanics and its applications to the general public through popular science lectures, which will be given by professors from the Physics Group at the Toledo campus of the Technological Federal University of Paraná (UTFPR).

From Quark to Quasars : Application of Quantum Physics in Astronomy

The event titled From Quarks to Quasars: Application of Quantum Physics in Astronomy is an online program designed to explore how quantum principles shape our understanding of the universe. Organized under the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, it highlights the bridge between the smallest building blocks of matter and the vast cosmic structures we observe.

The session will be held via Zoom on August 2 and features two speakers: Aashis Khanal, an undergraduate researcher, and Rasmita Timalsina, PhD scholar at The Catholic University. Together, they will discuss how quantum mechanics provides insights into astrophysical phenomena and the broader field of astronomy.

ThaiTeleocm150, AI, and ThaiYQ2025: Reviewing “The Discourse”—A New Quantum Expose Book & Mini-Tea Talk

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asanee Kawtrakul, a senior advisor and prominent figure in Thailand’s science and technology, especially in the AI community, will deliver a keynote speech commemorating the sesquicentennial of Thai telecommunications while also reviewing “The Discourse,” a newly released book exploring the National Frontier Research Initiative.


In this intimate mini-tea talk, she will reflect on 150 years of Thai telecommunications—from the establishment of the country’s first telegraph line in 1875, through AI, to today’s technological landscape—drawing from her lifetime of experiences. She will also emphasize responsible science communication. A recording of the session will be made publicly available following the event.
