This event aims to introduce students and enthusiasts to the world of quantum computing through a series of hands-on workshops, talks, and challenges powered by IBM Quantum. It is a global initiative that brings together learners to explore quantum technologies and their applications.

Quantum technologies enable completely new applications in many areas of society, both nationally and internationally. Current and future research not only harbours great economic opportunities, but also potential risks, which are being discussed in this seminar.

Quantum Science and Technology for Sustainable Development: Perspectives from the Global South

On the centennial of quantum mechanics, GXS convenes a dynamic showcase spotlighting how quantum science can accelerate sustainable development from the Global South landscape. This virtual event launches our Quantum Hub (innovation partnerships) and QuantumNexus (open education & simulation platform)—centering local priorities, applied research, and inclusive capacity-building.

Expect short, high-impact demos and multimedia storytelling that connect quantum breakthroughs to real-world challenges: climate modeling, low-carbon energy systems, precision agriculture, health diagnostics, secure digital infrastructure, and equitable AI. African International Conference on Quantum Computing and Simulation

Following the E-Learning African International School on Quantum Science and Technology (ELAIS-QST 2024), the African International Conference on Quantum Computing and Simulation will gather leading experts, scientists, researchers, and students from across Africa in different fields such as materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, and others to explore cutting-edge topics. In addition, the leading experts, scientists, researchers, and government policymakers in Ghana will hold a round-table discussion on formulating a national strategy for Ghana. This 7-day event will feature a rich program of opening ceremonies, keynote presentations, round-table discussions, interactive lectures, tutorials or hands-on sessions, and poster sessions, each designed to delve into various aspects of quantum computing and simulation.

The conference will begin with an opening ceremony where keynote presentations from renowned leaders in the field will lay the groundwork for round-table discussions on policy direction for Ghana and simultaneously motivate student participants on the current state and future potential of quantum computing and simulation. Lectures will be provided to theme the entire lecture for easy transfer of knowledge. The goal is to build a foundation for the participants of this program who have diverse scientific backgrounds. Discussions throughout the event will focus on 1) key challenges, such as scaling quantum simulations for larger, more complex systems; 2) the development of new quantum algorithms to address critical issues in industrial applications, and 3) how the Ghanaian community can collaborate to develop a national strategy programme for effective training, education, research, and industrialization to embrace the quantum revolution. The interactive lectures will provide participants with tutorials/hands-on experience using the quantum tools and techniques for simulation, while the poster sessions will allow researchers and students to showcase their work and engage in in-depth discussions with peers and experts.

5th December Symposium of A. Chelkowski Institute of Physics

“Quantum World: Do we already know what we do not know?”

How is it possible for a particle to be in two places at once? Does entanglement really work across distances? And what does quantum physics have to do with the computers of the future?

We invite secondary school students to a unique event exploring a science that is changing the way we think about the world and shaping the technologies of tomorrow.

The program will feature talks by university professors, science communicators, and representatives from the business world, who will show how quantum physics is applied in industry and computer science.

Introduction to Loop Quantum Gravity

The IZTECH Quantum community is pleased to launch this semester’s Physics Seminar Series with an engaging talk on Loop Quantum Gravity—a theoretical framework that aims to understand the fabric of the universe at the quantum level. The seminar will be delivered by Dr. Bekir Baytas, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics at İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH). In this talk, Dr. Baytas will introduce the fundamental ideas of Loop Quantum Gravity and discuss how this theory challenges our conventional understanding of space and time.
