Festival of Science – Sinj

Since 2010, the Festival of Science has been held annually in the city of Sinj, Croatia, and has become one of the country’s leading popular science events. This year’s festival is dedicated to quantum technologies, in alignment with the global celebration of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

To mark the occasion, the Festival will open with two keynote public lectures:

  • “Space Technologies” by Prof. Dubravko Babić
  • “Quantum Communications” by Dr. Martin Lončarić

Dr. Martin Lončarić is the scientific lead of the Croatian Quantum Communication Infrastructure project (CroQCI), while Prof. Dubravko Babić led the Space Connectivity work package focused on establishing an optical ground station for quantum communication within CroQCI. Their lectures will delve into these cutting-edge topics.

The event will also feature a diverse program, including classroom lectures in high schools, public physics demonstrations, and an open-air astronomical observation of the night sky with telescopes, accompanied by expert commentary. These activities aim to engage the public and inspire the next generation of scientists through direct interaction with forefront science.

The full program, including lecture descriptions and speaker bios, is available on the official Festival of Science – Sinj website: https://www.fzsinj.eu
