Eurasian International Quantum Science Cooperation and Popularization Forum

Quantum science and technology will be a key cross-cutting scientific field in the 21st century, with a huge impact on key societal challenges highlighted by the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. However, the unbalanced development of quantum technology has exacerbated the technological gap in regional development, and its potential security and regulatory challenges have hindered the popularization and promotion of quantum technology. In company with our partners, we plan to unite experts and various stakeholders from China, Japan, Russia, the Republic of Korea, and Thailand to jointly carry out the project of “Eurasian International Quantum Science Cooperation and Popularization Forum” in September 2025. This activity is preliminarily planned to last for 2 days and will be held during the Beijing Science and Technology Month in Beijing. The two-day project will focus on promoting science popularization, scientific research, and open scientific cooperation in Eurasian quantum technology through a field trip and interactions between participants.

On the first day, we will host a Forum and expect around 100 participants to join us, which aims to establish a policy dialogue mechanism for Eurasian quantum science and technology cooperations and discuss issues such as quantum science and technology development policies, ethics, and security governance. The participants could share the current state of quantum technology collaborative practices and cases that inspire interdisciplinary and cross-regional collaboration to address the global North-South divide. In the afternoon, the delegates will be invited to visit the Beijing Academy of Quantum Science to experience the social impact of technology implementation, as well as recent practices in quantum science education, research, and industrial applications, and learn about the latest achievements and application scenarios in the fields of quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum sensing. On the second day, the delegates will deeply participate in the Beijing Science and Technology Month on-site activities, participating in popular science lectures given by quantum industry experts. There will be quizzes and interactive sessions, delegates are willing to conduct in-depth discussions on the popularization of quantum knowledge. In conclusion, this project will promote the concept of open science, build an open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial Eurasian quantum technology innovation ecology, and promote the rapid development of the Eurasian quantum technology industry.
