Crash Course: Quantum Computing

The Nepalese Society of Student Researchers (NSSR), in collaboration with St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, is organizing a one-month crash course on quantum computing using Qiskit as part of the global celebration of the International Year of Quantum Science & Technology (IYQ) 2025. This initiative aims to introduce early-career learners to the foundational principles of quantum information, qubits, superposition, entanglement, and quantum algorithms, while fostering hands-on engagement through guided coding sessions and interactive demonstrations.

Aligned with the IYQ mission of openness, scientific honesty, accessibility, and public engagement, the program encourages participants to explore the beauty and relevance of quantum science in an inclusive and collaborative environment. Sessions will be held on Fridays and Sundays from 28 November to 21 December 2025 at St. Xavier’s College, featuring expert guest lectures from national and international researchers. The course concludes with a final-day poster exhibition open to all students and faculty, where participants will present the quantum projects they developed during the program. This event seeks to spark curiosity, promote reliable scientific understanding, and help young learners meaningfully connect with the global centennial celebration of quantum science.
