00 Years of Quantum Theory: From Foundations to Modern Technology Applications

Our festival is scheduled for March 16 and 23, 2025, at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens, Greece. The event is designed to make complex quantum phenomena accessible and engaging to a broad audience, emphasizing their applications in everyday life. The festival’s program includes:

Scientific Lectures: Professor Haris Anastopoulos from the Department of Physics at the University of Patras will deliver a lecture titled “100 Years of Quantum: How the Debate on the Nature of Reality Leads to New Technologies,” exploring the evolution of quantum theory and its technological ramifications.

Science Shows: Our scientific team will conduct live experiments demonstrating the paradoxes and intriguing properties of the quantum world, offering attendees a tangible understanding of quantum phenomena.

Experimental Stations: Participants will have hands-on opportunities to detect elementary particles, observe atomic emission spectra, and measure the speed of light, thereby directly engaging with principles of quantum mechanics.

“Ask a Scientist” Sessions: Attendees can engage in discussions with experts to address their curiosities and questions about quantum physics, fostering a deeper understanding through direct interaction.

Interactive Games & Screenings: The festival will feature simulation games, visual displays, and posters that illustrate quantum concepts, making the learning process both enjoyable and informative.

Already, on the first day of the festival, 400 visitors of all ages explored our spaces, attended the lecture, participated in our interactive experiments, and engaged in discussions with distinguished Greek scientists specializing in quantum physics. Additionally, they had the opportunity to watch educational videos produced by our institution, as well as short films inspired by the world of quantum physics.

Through these activities, we aim to demystify quantum science, highlighting its historical development and its critical role in technologies such as mobile phones, computers, lasers, and MRI machines. By showcasing the practical applications of quantum mechanics, we strive to inspire and educate the public about its significance in our daily lives.
