IYQ Global Fund

Inclusive Travel Support Grant Program

The Inclusive Travel Support Grant Program aims to reduce barriers to participation in IYQ-endorsed events by offering modest, needs-based grants to offset additional costs related to:

Caregiving responsibilities (e.g., traveling with children, elder care support).

Disability-related accommodations (e.g., accessible transport, travel with a personal aide).

This program is administered by the IYQ Steering Committee through the IYQ Global Fund. While UNESCO has formally proclaimed the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, this specific initiative is not managed by UNESCO.

Grant Overview

  • Maximum award: Up to $500 USD per individual.
  • Designed to offset specific, additional costs that would otherwise limit participation.
  • Funds are limited and will be awarded based on need and availability.

Eligibility

  Applicants must:

  • Be confirmed participants in an IYQ-endorsed event (e.g., speaker, panelist, organizer)
  • Demonstrate specific, additional costs related to caregiving or disability-related travel needs.
  • Submit a brief summary of expected expenses and the purpose of the support.

What Can Be Covered

   Examples of eligible costs:

  • Travel costs for a caregiver or child
  • Childcare or eldercare services at home or at the destination
  • Wheelchair-accessible transportation
  • Additional lodging required due to accessibility needs

Application Process

  1. Complete short application form (online)
    • Name, event, role, type of support needed
    • Estimated amount requested (up to $500)
  2. Submit at least 3 weeks before the event.
  3. Applications are reviewed by IYQ Support Subcommittee.
  4. Applicants will be notified within 7–10 days of the deadline.
  5. Funds will be disbursed either in advance or by reimbursement, depending on feasibility.

Note: Participants may apply once they have received an official invitation to an IYQ-endorsed event, even if travel bookings have not yet been finalized. In these cases, applicants should send the official invitation letter and provide estimated costs for anticipated expenses.

If awarded, participants will be expected to submit receipts and documentation following the event. Disbursement of funds will occur during or shortly after the event, following standard reimbursement process.
