Quantum 100

Kiera Peltz
Founder and Executive Director, Qubit by Qubit, The Coding School, San Francisco, California, United States
Challenging the notion that quantum computing is too advanced for young people, Kiera Peltz launched the first-ever high school quantum computing course taught for credit for nearly 10,000 students in 2020.
This initiative demonstrated that quantum concepts could be taught accessibly and at scale, laying the foundation for Qubit by Qubit (QxQ), the nonprofit quantum education initiative of The Coding School, which Peltz founded and continues to lead as CEO.
Under her leadership, QxQ has become the largest K-16 quantum education initiative globally with over 30,000 students and educators trained across 130+ countries since 2019. Offering programs that range from introductory workshops to for-credit courses, research experiences, and internships, Peltz has built partnerships with leading institutions and the White House’s Q-12 Partnership, creating an end-to-end learning pathway from middle school through the workforce.
Through commitment to accessibility and education, QxQ has pioneered early, accessible quantum education and keeps all programs low-cost and inclusive, ensuring that all students can gain real technical and problem-solving skills using emerging technologies. Peltz’s work has inspired a generation of young learners, many of whom have gone on to study quantum-related subjects, pursue PhDs, founded student quantum clubs, and launched outreach programs, fostering the future quantum workforce.
