The Second Quantum Revolution: Fundamental Science and New Technologies
The School of Sciences of the University of Minho (ECUM) joins the celebrations of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ 2025) with the event “The Second Quantum Revolution: Fundamental Science and New Technologies”, taking place on November 3rd at Auditorium B2, Gualtar Campus (Braga). The event brings together leading international experts to discuss the present and future of what has come to be known as the second quantum revolution, as well as the corresponding technological advancements.
The morning session will feature talks by former students of ECUM, who are now developing significant research in the field of quantum science across leading international institutions. Their presentations will cover diverse topics, from quantum algorithms and computing to ultracold atoms and quantum simulations.
The afternoon session will include lectures by two distinguished international guests, Arzhang Ardavan (University of Oxford) and David Jennings (PsiQuantum), renowned for their groundbreaking work in quantum science and technology.
The event will conclude with a roundtable debate, “The second quantum revolution: fundamental science and new technologies”, bringing together experts to discuss the multiple perspectives and platforms shaping the present and future of quantum science.
This event is part of ECUM’s ongoing commitment to promoting scientific knowledge, fostering collaboration, and inspiring new generations in the rapidly evolving field of quantum technology.
